It Is Not About Me

It Is Not About Me

For if we live, we live to the Lord, and if we die, we die to the Lord. So then, whether we live or whether we die, we are the Lord’s. For to this end Christ died and lived again, that he might be Lord both of the dead and of the living.  (Rom 14:8-9)

In a football game, all the players pool their talents together to win the game.

Imagine a footballer who holds on to the ball all the time without passing it to others.  He wants to score a goal and receive the glory for himself.

He thinks the game is all about him.

That is how we think.

We aim for our own happiness and profit.

If we have to step on others, cut corners, take short cuts to achieve our happiness, we will do it.

The result is a world in chaos.

We quarrel and fight in order to have it our own way (Jas 4:1-3).  We have the wrong motive.  We only aim for our happiness and comfort.

No.  Life is not about us.

Life revolves around the Lord Jesus, the Son of God.

Just as all the planets revolve around the sun.

Our lives are meant to bring Him glory.

We receive the greatest satisfaction when we give our lives in worship of God.

We think of what the Lord expects of us.

We seek His will and do it (Matt 7:24).

We seek first for His kingdom and righteousness (Matt 6:33).

We don’t just call Him Lord.  We do what He commands (Luke 6:46).

We do all these not because we are obligated to.

We do them because we love Him.

Because life is not about me.

It is about the Lord Jesus.
