“For the Lord will be your confidence…” (Proverbs 3:26).

Have you ever looked up and noticed construction workers high on a skyscraper?
Why do you suppose they can work so confidently suspended so high above the ground?

They are secure because they know that-
– their safety harnesses are fastened to the building itself and
– their harnesses will hold, even if the they should fall.

Your life can be lived on the edge, with confidence like that.

When we give our lives to Jesus Christ-
He becomes our safety harness and our security.

Because of Him-
– we can risk living life to the fullest and be all that we were created to be.

He keeps us secure-
– even though life is often insecure,
– even though we get disappointed, and
– even though the bottom falls out.

How about you?

Do you have security for today-
– no matter what challenges and dangers you face?

How about tomorrow?

Why not try living life with Christ-
– one day at a time,
– for a life that’s secure and yet full of excitement?

Security is only in Jesus!

Little meaning in life!

“But I said, “I have laboured to no purpose; I have spent my strength in vain and for nothing. Yet what is due me is in the Lord’s hand, and my reward is with my God” (Isaiah 49:4).

Have you ever felt like you’re spending your life using your talent for nothing?

Life is often spent doing mundane activities that seem to have little eternal purpose.

The great prophet Isaiah was struggling with his own purpose.

He knew he was chosen to be a voice for God-

– yet life became purposeless for Isaiah.

We all go through periods when our purpose seems to be clouded with the mundane.

We see little meaning in life!

On the other hand-

Isaiah didn’t stay in this place.

We read in this passage that he knew the truth of his existence.

He could look past his present circumstance and know that his real reward and purpose would be revealed in eternity.

He knew that God was just and fair-

– so he placed his faith on this truth.

When life appears to lack meaning and purpose-

– remember that if you devote your life to the purposes He has for you,

– the fruits of your labour will be manifested in due time.

“The one who calls you is faithful and He will do it” (1 Thess. 5:24).

Psychiatrists call the fear of certain things phobias. There are people who fear heights (acrophobia) and people who fear closed-in places (claustrophobia). There are people afraid of water, dogs and even other people.

But there is one fear that drives out all other fears, and we find it in Psalm 112.

Praise the LORD! Blessed is the man who fears the LORD, who greatly delights in his commandments! (Ps 112:1 ESV)

All kinds of fears are taken care of if we fear the Lord. What are some of the fears?

Fear about family!
His offspring will be mighty in the land; the generation of the upright will be blessed. (v 2)

Commit your children to Him and you won’t have to worry about their lives.

Fear about finance!!
Wealth and riches are in his house, and his righteousness endures forever. (v 3)

This doesn’t mean we will all be millionaires. It means we’ll always have what we need.
If we fear the Lord, we can let go of our financial fears.

Fear about falsehood!!!
Light dawns in the darkness for the upright; he is gracious, merciful, and righteous. (v 4)

Fear God and you’ll always have light when you need it. You will have His guidance and direction. “You are all sons of the light and sons of the day. We do not belong to the night or to the darkness” (1 Thess 5:5).

Fear about future!!!!
For the righteous will never be moved; he will be remembered forever.
(v 6)

God says, “Don’t be afraid of the changes that are going on around you or in you. I am the God of the universe. Fear Me, and I’ll take care of the changes.”

He is not afraid of bad news; his heart is firm, trusting in the LORD.
(v 7)

No news is bad if you’re walking in the will of God.

When you fear the Lord, every other fear is conquered.
Walk today in the fear of the Lord, trusting Him with your future.
He knows your future; holds your future and is your future!

“Wait on the LORD: be of good courage, and He shall strengthen your heart: wait, I say, on the LORD.” Psalm 27:14.

Do you know the story of Joshua?

And how the wall of Jericho fell down after the Israelites marched around it once a day for six days, then seven times on the seventh day?

Why not just walk around Jericho one time?

I think it was because God was testing their faith.

God was teaching them that-

“Waiting time is not a wasted time!”

Isaiah 28:16 says, “he that believes shall not make haste.”

God is never in a hurry like we are.

We get upset when we miss a section in a revolving door!

God is also never late.

He knows what He is doing.

Do you know what our problem is?

We’ve been around Jericho six times and we’re ready to quit.

Say with the psalmist:

“My soul, wait you only upon God; for my expectation is from Him.” Psalm 62:5.

Are you single?

Or lonely?

Take comfort in knowing God knows your heart’s desire.

Take courage in knowing God’s best is your purity.

Though it may be hard to wait-

God will honor your obedience!

“Stand firm and you will see the deliverance the Lord will bring you today….” (Exodus 14:13).

The Israelites had just left 400 years of slavery in Egypt.

They had fled to the desert.

But they had come to a dead end at the Red Sea.

Word reached them that Pharaoh had changed his mind.

He was sending his troops to recapture the Israelites.

They cried out to their leader Moses, complaining that he had brought them that far only to die in the desert.

Learning when to move and when to stand is the greatest challenge for a believer.

We are trained in the Word for action!

We are not trained to sit idly and wait.

We are trained to solve problems, not wait for them to resolve themselves.

God says there are times to wait.

We are to wait until He says go.

If we go before He says go-

We likely will make our situation worse.

If the Israelites had attempted to cross the Red Sea before it parted-

– they would have drowned.

If they had fled north to try to avoid the Egyptians-

God would not have moved in a miraculous way.

God will not work on our behalf-

– if we continually try to solve our problem when He has instructed us to stand still.

Standing still is sometimes the greatest action we can do –

– although it is the most difficult thing to do in the Christian walk.

Stand still-

– when He says stand and see the deliverance of the Lord.

Ask God to help you live a holy and godly lifestyle every day of your life.

Pray that you would live each day with eternity set in your heart and mind.
