Great and Precious Promises
As we know Jesus better, his divine power gives us everything we need for living a godly life. He has called us to receive his own glory and goodness! And by that same mighty power, he has given us all of his great and precious promises. He has promised that you will escape the decadence all around you caused by evil desires and that you will share in his divine nature. (2 Pet 1:3-4)
God has provided us with everything we need to live a godly life.
He has not left us to struggle on our own.
He has promised to help us.
His promises are aimed at helping us grow in godliness and knowing Him better.
Too often we claim His promises for our advantage. Our prayers are for our own ends. They are means for our happiness and comfort.
God promises to answer our prayers. But He intended that through them, we will grow in love for Him.
We will know that He is God, He is sovereign, He is good, He is wise, He loves us so much.
The end of claiming His promises is not answered prayers, but love for God.
God’s purpose for helping us is ultimately that we know Him personally and intimately.
His promises are sufficient to provide for us strength, comfort, encouragement, protection, guidance, wisdom.
He promises to be with us, protect us, and provide for us.
So that we share in His divine nature and reflect Him in our lives.
This will bring about true joy for us.
So claim His great and precious promises.
