Power Belongs to God

Power Belongs to God

And when you pray, do not heap up empty phrases as the Gentiles do, for they think that they will be heard for their many words. (Matt 6:7)

Praying at all times in the Spirit, with all prayer and supplication. To that end, keep alert with all perseverance, making supplication for all the saints. (Eph 6:18)

Power belongs to God. (Ps 62:11)

Prayer by itself has no power. It is a channel to establish a stronger relationship with God. It is an expression of our desire for God. It is seeking God’s will and aligning ourselves with it. We ask according to His will. We seek for His will to be done on earth in our lives.

Prayer does not change things. God changes things. Prayer does not change God.

When we talk about the power of prayer, we mean the power that comes from God when we pray to Him.

God Himself determines His plan, what He will or will not do. He determines the answer even before we pray. Whether He will answer our prayer or not is according to His loving and sovereign will. No amount of praying will change God. He knows the past and the future. He knows what He will do. Even before we ask Him.

Prayer is mistaken as a force, as if you will receive more power when you pray. No. Power comes from God, not from prayer.

When you pray to seek His will, you are confident He heard your prayer and that He will act. God loves to see His children come to Him in prayer, seeking His will. This gives us confidence and power in prayer.

The power is God Himself. An emotional feeling of power may accompany prayer. But our faith rests in God alone. We know that He is in control of everything. All things will work according to His plan. When we align ourselves with God in prayer, we fear no evil.

Our prayer directed to God draws power from Him. We emerge from prayer with this assurance of the things hoped for.

Praying without ceasing strengthens our relationship with God. We are stronger in our faith in Him. That gives us confidence in Him. God has chosen prayer as the means for us to seek Him and accomplish His plan.

Ultimately, power comes from God. Not from prayer.
