Faith is the Answer
“For everyone who has been born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has overcome the world – our faith” (1 John 5:4).
A question often asked by sceptics is: Have you been to heaven? Have you been to hell? No? Then how do you know heaven and hell exist?
My answer: Have you been to such and such a place? No? Then how do you know it exists?
My question for them: Have you ever flown in a plane? (Almost all of them had the experience).
Do you know the pilot? Do you know the engineers who check that the plane is in flyable condition? Can you be sure the pilot will fly you to your destination?
You see, you don’t know the pilot but you trust him to take you where you want to go. You have great faith in him.
If you don’t trust anyone, there is no way you can live in this world. You trust the vegetable seller. You trust the school teacher. You trust your boss. You trust the bus driver. You trust … everyone you deal with.
Sceptics say faith is the excuse because of a lack of evidence.
But you know, there are so many questions about life that has no answer, or satisfactory answer. Time will not permit man to acquire all the answers. There are just too many questions.
When we exercise faith in a sovereign God, we don’t need any more answer. Jesus is the answer. He will work out all things for us. He will explain everything to us one day when we meet Him.
In Him we are satisfied, though we don’t understand everything.
Through faith in Him, we overcome doubt, unrest, discouragement, dissatisfaction, hunger for meaning, sin, and death.
