“And we impart this in words not taught by human wisdom but taught by the Spirit, interpreting spiritual truths to those who are spiritual”  (1 Cor 2:13).

The Holy Spirit teaches us spiritual truths that only those who have His Spirit can understand.

The things that the Spirit teaches are not understood intellectually or emotionally.

They are understood and received in a spiritual way by those whose spirits have come alive through Christ.

The truth edifies us, illumines us, strengthens us, draws us to God, creates in us a desire for God.

This truth is not mere intellectual knowledge.  It is spiritual in nature.

As spirit beings, we need this spiritual truth as food for our souls.

Jesus taught in parables. “And he answered them, “To you it has been given to know the secrets of the kingdom of heaven, but to them it has not been given” (Matt 13:11).

Anyone can hear and understand the meaning of parables.  But this understanding is only on an intellectual level.

The Word of God is spiritual.  It gives spiritual life.

If you are a child of God, you will crave for His Word (1 Pet 2:2).

You will be spiritually hungry.  You will long to feed on His Word.

Stop trying to understand God’s Word intellectually.  Ask God to feed your soul with His Word.  We live in a spiritual realm.  We encounter love, grace, faith as well as temptations, discouragement, spiritual warfare.

We need to be taught by the Spirit in order to come alive spiritually.
