So do we!

So do we!

“But Jesus Himself would often slip away to the wilderness and pray” (Luke 5:16).

Once we receive the love of God in Jesus Christ-

– we realize that the more we get to know God, the more we love Him.

When it comes to growing in our relationship with Him-

– one of the most important things we must do is to have regular time alone with God in prayer and Bible study.

I realize the Bible doesn’t command us to have a daily quiet time.

It never says, “Thou shalt have a daily quiet time.”

So, what’s the point?

The answer is simple-

– because Jesus did it.

Why in the world would Jesus need to have time to pray to God?

It’s actually kind of mind-boggling to try and figure it out.

But I do know this:

The preeminent concern of Jesus during His ministry here on earth was staying in tune with His Father-

– to have perfect union and be in the center of His Father’s will.

He needed time alone with Him.

He was God’s Son!

He was perfect!

Without sin!

So, if Jesus was passionate about staying close to His Father-

– doesn’t it just make sense that we need what He needed?

One more thing:

In the scripture referenced above-

– it states that Jesus would “often” slip away.

That means regularly.

That means a lot.

I know in my own life, as weak as I am, that I wouldn’t last one month as a pastor without that daily alone time with God.

We need that time to fulfill God’s will in our lives-

– in order to reach out and care for our fellow man.

Jesus needed it- often!

So do we!
