Let the Lord Be The Judge

Let the Lord Be The Judge

God is a righteous judge, and a God who feels indignation every day. (Psalm 7:11)

The introduction to this psalm informs us that David heard news from Cush.

Cush could have been one of those who falsely accused David before Saul (1 Sam 24:9) or he could be the Cushite who brought news about Absalom’s death (2 Sam 18:21-23).

David immediately searched himself to see if he had done any wrong (v 3-4).  He was willing to be chastened by the Lord (v 5).  God will chasten only when He sees it is for our good (Heb 12:5-6).

He submitted to God as his judge (v 6, 8).  God is the One who tests our minds and hearts (v 9b).

David also called upon the Lord to judge the wicked (v 9a) and unrepentant (v 12-16).

Finally, he gave thanks to the Lord for His righteousness (v17).

God is an upright Judge.  He will judge with equity.

He will discipline or vindicate us.  Whichever it is, it is for our good.

Do you have a Cush in your life?

When people create trouble for us, run to God.  And be sure we are not suffering for our own wrong.
