No More Guilt

No More Guilt

By canceling the record of debt that stood against us with its legal demands. This he (Jesus) set aside, nailing it to the cross. He disarmed the rulers and authorities and put them to open shame, by triumphing over them in him. (Col 2:14-15)

We are all infected with the virus of sin.

Either we die for our sins or a substitute die for us.

An animal cannot be a substitute for man.

A sinner cannot die for us.  He has to die for his own sins.

Thank God that Jesus volunteered to die in our place.

As God, He can save.

As Man, He can die for man.

The Romans would write the crime that the criminal was guilty of on a piece of wood.  That piece of wood would be nailed on top of the cross that he was to be crucified.

But Jesus took away those charges against us and nailed them to His cross.

It was as if He were the murderer, adulterer, liar, idolater, sorcerer.

He carried our sins in His own body on the cross.

While on the cross, it looked like He was defeated.

But instead it was His greatest triumph.

He conquered the evil powers by His death on the cross.

He silenced our accusers and shamed them.

We are forgiven.  The wrath of God against us was appeased.

For you have cast all my sins behind your back. (Isa 38:17)

God took our sins and threw them out of His sight.

He sees the righteousness of Christ in us.

There is no more guilt in us.  We are set free.

Hallelujah!  What a Savior.
