Do All For the Glory of God

Do All For the Glory of God

“So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God.” (1 Cor 10:31)

Paul was explaining about eating food offered to idols.

If you eat, you might stumble your brother because he thinks you are honoring the gods and betraying your Christian faith.

If you don’t eat, you might offend your host or go hungry.

Some say you can eat anything because you have Christian liberty.  An idol is nothing.

But we must consider our brother who has a weaker conscience.

So it is better to abstain from food offered to idols.

Though eating food offered to idols will not harm us bodily, doing so is not beneficial for others (1 Cor 10:23-24).

Whatever we do (no matter how mundane or extraordinary the task is), we ought to make sure that we glorify God.

To glorify God means to make His glory shine or make it known to men.

We glorify God when we enjoy what God gives us to do.

We glorify God when we do what God says even though it is tough or inconvenient.

We glorify God when we please God though no one is watching because we do it for Him.

We glorify God when what we do brings Him pleasure.

We glorify God when we trust Him.

We glorify God we walk in His ways.

We glorify God when we don’t complain though the going gets rough.

These actions prove that God is real in our lives.

They show His love, grace, wisdom, guidance, protection.

“Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men.” (Col 3:23)

When we eat, drink, work, travel, sleep, do the laundry, read, watch TV, play, we can glorify God.  Praise the Lord!
