Death holds no fear!
“For to me, to live is Christ and to die is gain” (Philippians 1:21).
I recently read of a 17th century Scotsman named John Brown.
Brown was a devoted Christian who, because of his faith, was looked upon with disdain by an aristocrat.
In fact, this aristocrat was doing everything he could to get Brown to recant of his deep faith.
He even threatened to have him shot and killed in front of his wife and children if he did not recant.
Brown still refused.
So, this aristocrat ordered for John Brown to be shot.
But none of his men would do so because they knew the man was innocent.
As a result-
– the aristocrat walked right up to John Brown, shot and killed him in cold blood.
He then turned to Brown’s wife and said:
“What do you think of your husband now?”
She looked at him and quietly said:
“I have always thought highly of my husband, but never as highly as today.”
For the Christian-
Death holds no fear!
“For to me, to live is Christ and to die is gain.”
