Ask Him 3 Questions

Ask Him 3 Questions

“…he who spreads slander is a fool” (Proverbs 10:18).

A pastor went to visit a woman in his church before she was to have serious surgery.
As he walked into her hospital room, he found her in the arms of a man who was not her husband.

Stunned and embarrassed, he silently walked out.
Later he discovered that this woman’s brother had come to comfort her before her surgery.
Later, the pastor said, “I could have told others I saw that woman in the arms of a man who was not her husband and it would have been a fact, but it would not have been the truth.”

The press often does this in reporting what people have done.
They confuse the facts with the truth.

This results in half-truths that are really the worst form of lies, because they are so believable.

Gossip and slander are big on facts and short on truth.
They unfairly destroy people’s character and reputation.

Do you know why people come to you to gossip?

They know you are a gossip hearer.
You are interested in gossip hearing.
You are a fourth rate person!

What the Bible says about a gossip hearer?
“An evildoer gives heed to false lips; a liar listens eagerly to a spiteful tongue” (Proverbs 17:4).

“When you encounter a cobra and a gossipper, kill the gossipper first!”
-A Jewish Proverb.

Because-
A cobra bites one!
But-
A gossipper kills many!

When someone comes you to gossip about somebody-
Ask him 3 questions:

Have you told God about this?
Did you ask that person personally about this?
Can we both go and ask him and minister to him?

If the gossipper is not ready to answer and accept your offer-
Leave him that you may save your soul!
