Obey the King

Obey the King

The nations are angry because things are not going their way.  They plot together to free themselves from God’s rule.  But God is the sovereign Ruler of the nations.  He sets up kings and puts them down according to His grace and wisdom (Dan 2:21).

The Lord is mighty in the heavens.  He laughs at them.  Then His laughter turns to fury (v 5).

The Lord God has chosen His Son to be King in Jerusalem (v 6-7).  David also said the same words when he said that God had chosen him to be king (1 Chron 28:4).  However, David was only a temporary king.  The Lord Jesus will be the eternal King.

One day, the Lord Jesus will reign over all the nations forever and ever (v 8).

That will be a wonderful day.  Wars will cease.  The deserts will bloom.  Man and animals will play together.  There will be eternal love, joy, and peace.  There will neither be any suffering or death.  Everyone will live together in love and peace.  This is because we have the Lord Jesus, the Prince of Peace, as our King. On the other hand, the rebellious nations will be destroyed (v 9).

We are exhorted to be wise (v 10), wait on Him (serve Him), and worship Him (kiss Him) (v 10-12).

Thought:  Those who reject the King of kings will perish.  Those who serve Him with reverence and worship Him will be blessed.  We will reign with Christ (2 Tim 2:11-13; Rev 20:4, 6).
