Breakfast with Jesus

Breakfast with Jesus

The other disciples came in the boat, dragging the net full of fish, for they were not far from the land, but about a hundred yards off. When they got out on land, they saw a charcoal fire in place, with fish laid out on it, and bread. Jesus said to them, “Bring some of the fish that you have just caught.” So Simon Peter went aboard and hauled the net ashore, full of large fish, 153 of them. And although there were so many, the net was not torn. Jesus said to them, “Come and have breakfast.” Now none of the disciples dared ask him, “Who are you?” They knew it was the Lord. Jesus came and took the bread and gave it to them, and so with the fish. This was now the third time that Jesus was revealed to the disciples after he was raised from the dead (John 21:8-14).

The disciples had fished all night and caught nothing.  They were not only very tired.  They were extremely discouraged.

But Jesus told them to cast the net again.  This time, they caught a net full of fish.

When they landed, they saw a fire of burning coals there with fish on it, and some bread.

Jesus was waiting for them.

Where did He get the fish? Where did he get the bread? And where did He get the coals? Where did He get the fire? I have no idea. Jesus always knows what you and I need in a crisis. He supplies, he provides.
He gives them a meal and fellowship.

Jesus invites them to the blessing of fellowship “Come and have breakfast.”
The disciples had the miracle of catching 153 fish all at once early in the morning. But Jesus had a prepared blessing on the shore with cooked fish.

Do you want the miracle of a big catch or the blessing of fellowship with Jesus?  What makes you rejoice?  Jesus or results?  That’s why Jesus asked them, “Do you love Me more than these?” (v 15).

And Jesus has got a prepared blessing for you, weary one.
