Be a “Donkey”

Be a “Donkey”

Rejoice greatly, O daughter of Zion! Shout aloud, O daughter of Jerusalem! Behold, your king is coming to you; righteous and having salvation is he, humble and mounted on a donkey, on a colt, the foal of a donkey (Zech 9:9).

Jesus rode into Jerusalem riding on a donkey.

Why on a donkey? He came as a King of peace.

This donkey had never been ridden. It needed to be broken. Ordinarily, it would resist any rider. But today, it yielded its back to its Creator. It willingly carried Him through the gates of Jerusalem.

We are a lot like this donkey before we came to Jesus. We are so used to having our own way.

But now we yield to our Master and carry Him on our back. What an honor to be used of our Lord!

The crowds were shouting, “Hosanna to the Son of David! Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord! Hosanna in the highest!”

The presence of God was about to enter the Temple.

At the dedication of Solomon’s Temple, the glory of God filled the Temple (1 Chron 7). Fire came down from heaven. The priests could not enter the Temple. The people bowed down in fear and worshipped the Lord.

Today, the Lord wants to come into us, live in us, and fill us. We are the temple of the Holy Spirit. Are we welcoming His presence into us as a Temple? Are our doors open and waiting?

One day, this King will return with flaming fire and His mighty army to judge the world (Rev 19:11-12).

Be a “donkey” for Jesus and let the King of peace ride on you.
