This is a Banking Term
When you encounter suffering –
Here are three reactions you need to have…
First, you are to rejoice!
“But rejoice that you participate in the sufferings of Christ, so that you may be overjoyed when his glory is revealed” (1 Peter 4:13).
“Consider it pure joy…whenever you face trials of many kinds…” (James 1:2).
Second, you need to review!! Review your life. Read 1 Peter 4:17-18. Am I suffering because of something I have done? If the Holy Spirit convicts you that your suffering is a result of your sin, then you need to repent. God takes us into deep waters, not to drown us but to cleanse us.
Third, you must rely!!!
When you review your life and discover that your suffering is for the cause of Christ, then simply rely on Him.
“Wherefore let them that suffer according to the will of God commit the keeping of their souls to Him in well doing, as unto a faithful Creator” (1 Peter 4:19).
It is not your problem. It is His project! In 1 Peter 4:19 we see the word “commit.” That is a banking term which means to put something with someone else for safe deposit.
He will take care of you; you can bank on it.
