Devil After the Dove
And give no opportunity to the devil. (Ephesians 4:27 ESV)
Have you had a wonderful spiritual experience recently?
Just as when Jesus was baptized and a dove descended, then right after He was led into the wilderness and tempted. When God does something great, or when you get the approval of God about something, you can expect the attack of the enemy.
“When God opens the windows of heaven to bless us, the devil is going to open the doors of hell to blast us.”
If the devil tempted Jesus, be sure he will tempt you, as well.
Ask God to give you His strength to overcome temptation today.
Resist like Jesus!
“Consider him who endured such opposition from sinful men, so that you will not grow weary and lose heart. In your struggle against sin, you have not yet resisted to the point of shedding your blood” (Hebrews 12:3-4).
“Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you” (James 4:7).
Too weak and vulnerable at times?
Then-
Run away like Joseph!
“One day he went into the house to attend to his duties, and none of the household servants was inside. She caught him by his cloak and said, “Come to bed with me!” But he left his cloak in her hand and ran out of the house.” (Genesis 39:11-12).
Reward shall be yours!
“Blessed is the man who endures temptation; for when he has been approved, he will receive the crown of life which the Lord has promised to those who love Him” (James.1:12).
